Senior Network Engineer

Salary: £59,000 - 99,000 per year

Requirements

• We need an experienced Senior Network Engineer with strong hands-on engineering capability and senior technical authority in enterprise and hybrid network services.
• We need proven experience with Fortinet platforms, including FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiManager, FortiAuthenticator, FortiNAC and FortiSASE.
• We need Microsoft Azure networking experience, including Virtual Networks, ExpressRoute, site-to-site VPN and remote access VPN.
• We need strong Cisco switching and routing experience across LAN, WAN and data centre networking.
• We need experience in operational disciplines including incident, problem, change and capacity management.
• We would value automation experience with Terraform and Ansible.
• We would value experience working with formal governance and risk management frameworks.
• We need strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• We design and assure complex enterprise network and security architectures using Fortinet technologies.
• We embed Zero Trust and SASE principles into our network solutions.
• We define and maintain standards, reference architectures and configuration baselines.
• We ensure the availability, performance, resilience and security of our enterprise network services.
• We act as the escalation point for complex incidents, leading root cause analysis and permanent remediation.
• We drive continual improvement across our network operations.
• We design and support hybrid connectivity between our on-premises data centres and Microsoft Azure.
• We collaborate with our cloud and platform teams to integrate consistent security controls.
• We design, support and optimise our enterprise LAN, WAN, campus and data centre networks using Cisco and Fortinet technologies.
• We lead technical evaluation and introduction of new networking capabilities.
• We ensure compliance with security policies, regulatory requirements and audit expectations.
• We contribute to risk assessments, TDA reviews and formal change governance.
• We maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams and asset records.
• We mentor and support the wider engineering team.

We are a large, dynamic digital team based in Glasgow offering a permanent Senior Network Engineer role with a hybrid working model, requiring two days in the office each week. This is a senior position where you will combine hands-on engineering with governance, risk management and continuous improvement across enterprise and hybrid network services.
