Senior IT Engineer

Salary: £40,000 - 40,000 per year

Requirements

• We require current or very recent experience within the education sector, including primary schools, secondary schools, academies, universities, or colleges.
• We require a minimum of 4 years hands-on experience in a senior IT support or systems engineer role within education.
• We need the ability to diagnose and resolve server failures independently, including operating systems, hardware, RAID, and virtualisation.
• We require strong Active Directory and Group Policy experience, including real-world deployment and troubleshooting.
• We need hands-on cyber security experience, including incident response, endpoint protection, web filtering, and Cyber Essentials.
• We require confident Microsoft 365 administration experience across the full suite.
• We need solid networking knowledge, including VLANs, managed switches, wireless, firewalls, and routing.
• We require experience with MDM platforms such as Mosyle, Jamf, Intune, or equivalent.
• We need the ability to work completely independently and resolve complex technical problems without supervision.
• We require a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
• We need strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical issues clearly and calmly.
• We require availability to work in a hybrid model across Liverpool and Merseyside, with onsite work as part of the role.

Responsibilities

• We deliver contracted onsite IT support across our school client base, with a minimum of three days per week on client sites.
• We provide support from our primary contracted base in Liverpool City Centre and travel regularly across Liverpool and Merseyside.
• We spend the remaining two days per week on remote support, reactive client visits, and project delivery.
• We support server, infrastructure, networking, cyber security, Microsoft 365, helpdesk, and Apple device environments.
• We resolve technical issues independently and provide clear, calm support to clients, including school leadership teams.

We are an IT firm recruiting for an IT Engineer (Support) to work in a hybrid model across Liverpool and Merseyside. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract with a view to becoming permanent after the first year, offering a salary of up to £40,000 plus commission, with rates dependent on experience and client requirements. The role is based primarily from Liverpool City Centre (L1), with three days onsite and two days remote each week, supporting schools across Liverpool and Merseyside.
