Functional Analyst – Java API Environment (Payments)

Requirements

• Hands-on experience in Java API environments
• Strong knowledge of Swagger and API documentation practices
• Ability to read and understand Java code, with no coding required
• Solid Agile experience and comfort working in a mature squad
• A detail-oriented mindset with the ability to go beyond surface-level analysis
• Background in financial services, ideally in Payments or International Payments
• Fluency in French and English
• Bonus: prior experience as a Java developer who transitioned into functional analysis

Responsibilities

• Manage and refine API documentation
• Understand Java-based code structures to guide developers effectively
• Lead and contribute to Agile ceremonies, including backlog grooming, refinement, and three amigos
• Write complete, detailed user stories with acceptance criteria and edge cases
• Conduct deep-dive analysis into functional payment flows and system behaviours
• Collaborate with stakeholders across multiple countries
• Act as the functional and technical bridge between business requirements and implementation

We work closely with developers, architects, and stakeholders across Belgium and France, offering a role where functional and technical expertise has immediate impact. The position is based in Brussels city centre with a hybrid setup of 50% on-site work, and remote work must be performed from within Belgium. The assignment is to start as soon as possible, runs until the end of the year with an extension option, and requires strong communication in French and English.
