Trainee AWS Cloud Engineer

Salary: £35,000 - 40,000 per year

Requirements

• We are looking for a degree in computer science, engineering, data science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• We want basic knowledge of cloud computing concepts and principles.
• We value an AWS Cloud Practitioner certification, or progress toward obtaining it.
• We are looking for basic knowledge of relational databases, SQL and data normalisation.
• We want basic knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Bash or PowerShell.
• We are looking for basic knowledge of networking and security concepts.
• We value strong written and oral communication skills.
• We want a willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
• We are looking for technical curiosity, adaptability and a genuine interest in technology and data.
• We value troubleshooting ability, problem-solving skills, attention to detail and collaboration.
• We require the ability to work in the United Kingdom.
• We prefer candidates who are comfortable working in a hybrid remote arrangement in London.
• We welcome exposure to AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC and IAM.
• We welcome exposure to Docker, containers or CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions or GitLab CI.

Responsibilities

• We design, deploy and maintain cloud-based solutions and data infrastructure for our clients using AWS.
• We work closely with Senior Cloud Engineers and learn from their guidance while contributing to client delivery from day one.
• We deploy and maintain cloud resources such as compute, storage and networking using infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
• We design, build and support ETL and data transfer processes.
• We work with relational databases and help maintain clean, well-structured data across client environments.
• We support data pipelines that feed reporting, analytics and AI workloads.
• We help build, test and deploy AWS services using CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
• We monitor infrastructure health using tools such as CloudWatch, Grafana and Zabbix.
• We proactively identify and resolve issues and collaborate as part of the on-call incident team.
• We apply AWS security best practices including IAM, encryption and network security.
• We support vulnerability scanning and remediation.
• We contribute to cost tracking and optimisation across AWS accounts, supporting FinOps practices.
• We maintain clear documentation of cloud configurations, data structures, procedures and troubleshooting guidelines.
• We undertake any other reasonable tasks as required.
