Security Solutions Engineer

Salary: £45,000 - 48,000 per year

Requirements

• We require strong experience in Cisco network and security environments.
• We require proven hands-on expertise with Cisco Firepower (FTD/FMC) and Cisco ISE.
• We require a solid understanding of network security principles, firewalls, VPNs, routing, and switching.
• We require experience working in a project-based environment, leading or owning technical delivery.
• We require excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• We require the ability to work independently in a remote setting while collaborating effectively with distributed teams.
• We require full right to work in the UK and willingness to travel occasionally.
• We would prefer experience with Fortinet/FortiGate firewalls.
• We would prefer knowledge of Cisco Stealthwatch and related Cisco security products.
• We would prefer exposure to wider Cisco security technologies such as Secure Firewall, Secure Network Analytics, and Umbrella.
• We would prefer relevant industry certifications such as CCNP Security, CCNP Enterprise, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• We lead the technical delivery of network and security projects from design through implementation and handover.
• We act as the lead engineer on complex customer engagements, ensuring solutions are delivered on time and to a high standard.
• We provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers involved in project delivery.
• We collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and stakeholders to align technical outcomes with business objectives.
• We implement and support enterprise-grade network and security solutions.
• We deploy, configure, and troubleshoot Cisco Firepower firewalls, including policy configuration, VPNs, and threat protection.
• We implement and maintain Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) for network access control, authentication, and authorization.
• We work with Cisco Stealthwatch and other Cisco security tools to provide visibility, monitoring, and threat detection.
• We configure and support FortiGate firewalls where required, including firewall policies, VPNs, and security profiles.
• We produce high-quality technical documentation, including designs, implementation guides, and handover documentation.
• We serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers, clearly explaining solutions and technical decisions.
• We gather technical requirements and translate them into robust, secure network designs.
• We participate in technical workshops, design reviews, and project update meetings.
• We support occasional onsite work at customer locations in the UK and Europe.

We are seeking an experienced and proactive project-focused Security Solutions Engineer to deliver a range of network and security projects across our customer base. This is a UK-based remote role offering flexibility, with periodic meetups and customer engagements. The position is heavily centred on Cisco networking and security technologies, with a strong emphasis on Cisco Firepower, Cisco ISE, and broader Cisco security platforms, and Fortinet/FortiGate experience is highly desirable. We offer a competitive salary of up to £48,000 depending on experience, fully remote UK-based working, covered travel expenses from home location, professional development, training and certification support, and a supportive, collaborative team environment.
