Network Engineer

Salary: £35,000 - 50,000 per year

Requirements

• We require professional networking certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Meraki CMNA/CMNO, or Fortinet NSE, which are highly desirable.
• We require at least 5 years of experience in network engineering.
• We require specific expertise with Meraki, Cisco, and Fortinet products.
• We require proven experience managing complex networks in a multi-vendor environment.
• We require a strong understanding of network protocols including IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, and QoS.
• We require solid experience with network security practices, VPNs, and firewall configuration and management.
• We require excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve issues efficiently.
• We require the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• We require strong communication and documentation skills.
• We require an ethos for scalability and the ability to reduce overheads through standardised, streamlined technology.

Responsibilities

• We work closely with the Technical Architect (Networks) and Pre-Sales team to understand technical designs and implement solutions.
• We collaborate with Engineers across End User, Cloud & Infrastructure, and Security to ensure customer solutions fit within the wider technical landscape.
• We produce high-quality pre-installation and post-installation documentation.
• We work closely with Project Managers to deliver high-quality solutions on time and on budget.
• We ensure customer networks are onboarded effectively with thorough documentation, robust monitoring thresholds, alerting, and update and patch schedules.
• We diagnose and resolve faults escalated from 1st or 2nd Line teams.
• We carry out proactive problem management across customer environments to improve stability and efficiency.
• We provide knowledge transfer to 1st and 2nd Line teams to support internal development and upskilling.
• We produce technical reports for the Network & UC Manager as required.
• We attend customer sites where necessary.
• We undertake any other duties reasonably required by the line manager.
