Requirements

• We require strong experience with Azure DevOps at scale.
• We require expertise in Terraform and Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• We require knowledge of Azure Monitor, Key Vault, and networking, including Private Endpoints.
• We require proven experience in cloud security, CI/CD, observability, and deployment automation.
• We require experience delivering within secure and regulated environments such as government or healthcare.
• We require knowledge of compliance standards including government, GDPR, and WCAG 2.1 AA.
• We require BPSS clearance.

Responsibilities

• We will support the recovery and delivery of a critical digital programme through a structured, outcome-driven approach.
• We will conduct a comprehensive audit of technical debt during the discovery and validation phase.
• We will align stakeholders and assess governance and compliance gaps.
• We will review platform security and operational setup.
• We will develop a roadmap for a Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
• We will present a clear recovery strategy outlining what to stop, start, and continue.
• We will drive technical readiness for Beta assessment.
• We will prioritise API development using a risk-based approach.
• We will establish a sustainable operating model for long-term delivery.
• We will implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions.
• We will build and optimise CI/CD pipelines.
• We will enhance platform observability and monitoring.
• We will drive secure, scalable cloud platform delivery.
• We will ensure environments meet compliance and governance standards.

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Consultant on a contract basis to help revitalise a stalled digital programme. This is a remote role with occasional travel to Leeds, typically 1 to 2 days per month. The day rate is £470 inclusive. The engagement follows a two-phase delivery model covering discovery and validation, followed by recovery planning and delivery. Success for this role means delivering a secure, scalable platform aligned to government and GDPR standards, with strong data integrity and security controls, performance readiness for public Beta at scale, and accessibility compliance aligned to WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
