DevOps Systems Engineer

Salary: £45,000 - 60,000 per year

Requirements

• We require strong experience administering Windows Server environments.
• We require solid understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewalls.
• We require experience supporting and administering Microsoft SQL Server, including high availability environments.
• We require proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across infrastructure and applications.
• We require experience implementing and configuring business applications.
• We require the ability to work effectively with development and support teams.
• We require experience supporting production and business-critical systems.
• We require knowledge of server monitoring, maintenance, and operational best practices.
• We require strong communication and documentation skills.
• Desirable: experience with VMware or Hyper-V virtualization technologies.
• Desirable: exposure to Azure or AWS cloud platforms.
• Desirable: PowerShell scripting or automation experience.
• Desirable: experience with IIS, application hosting, or middleware platforms.

Responsibilities

• We install, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments.
• We administer and support Microsoft SQL Server databases.
• We participate in a 24/7 remote on-call rota following training.
• We troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, database, and application issues.
• We perform application installations, upgrades, and configuration changes.
• We support deployment and implementation of new systems and applications.
• We monitor system performance and proactively resolve incidents.
• We collaborate with developers and third-party vendors to resolve technical issues.
• We manage server builds, patching, maintenance, and environment configuration.
• We support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
• We maintain technical documentation, procedures, and configurations.
• We assist with networking issues including DNS, VPNs, firewalls, and connectivity.
• We participate in system testing, releases, and change management activities.
