Remote Security Analyst

Salary: £37,000 - 65,000 per year

Requirements

• We are seeking 2 highly motivated and passionate individuals to join our Security team for a 12-month placement.
• We are looking for students currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.
• We expect candidates to be completing their second year at university and to complete their final year after the placement.
• We want an understanding of information security principles, practices, and technologies.
• We look for a strong interest in security operations, incident response, and threat detection methodologies.
• We value an analytical mindset with the ability to analyse and interpret data effectively.
• We need confident written and verbal communication skills.
• We welcome familiarity with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, and EDR solutions.
• You must hold the right to work in the UK for the full duration of the placement.

Responsibilities

• We will provide a 12-month year in placement with two six-month rotations in our Information Security and Security Operations squads.
• We expect you to work with the rest of the business to onboard high-priority suppliers and partners while managing associated security risk.
• We want you to help improve how we manage security at Monzo, including exploring new technologies such as generative AI.
• We will have you support safe business change by assessing and helping mitigate security risks, including product launches.
• We want you to engage with our Security Engineering, Offensive Security, Security Operations, and Data Protection teams.
• We will expose you to work with our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line risk teams on internal audits, 2nd line risk reviews, and controls testing.
• We want you to help promote a security-conscious culture throughout the organisation.
• We will have you support compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• We expect you to assist in monitoring security events and alerts using SIEM tooling.
• We want you to analyse security event data to identify potential indicators of compromise and security incidents.
• We will have you collaborate with incident response teams to escalate and investigate security incidents.
• We want you to participate in incident response activities, including containment, eradication, and recovery.
• We expect you to document incident response procedures and outcomes for post-incident analysis and improvement.
• We want you to contribute to the collection and analysis of threat intelligence data to identify emerging threats and trends.
• We will have you assist in integrating threat intelligence feeds into security operations processes for proactive threat hunting.
• We want you to contribute to tuning and configuring security tools to improve detection accuracy and reduce false positives.
