The Principal Engineer, Project Management will oversee capital projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget while maintaining high-quality standards.

Responsibilities Establishes and controls project scopes, budgets, and schedulesFunctions within a technical, multi-discipline capacity to deliver capital investments to the organization in accordance with established capital management processesDevelops project concepts which satisfy business and client needsServes as the owner’s representative from concept through commissioning and qualification to completionApplies engineering knowledge to projects to lead project teams, increase efficiency, reduce waste, and resolve operational issuesEngages AE support when required and lead development of detail design for all disciplines including but not limited to civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, controls, and fire protectionDevelops cost optimized Project Definitions and obtains stakeholder approvals and buy-inPrepares Capital Project Authorization (CPA) funding requestsDevelops design, construction, and equipment Request for Proposals and select qualified, best value bidders with proven safety records for workAdministers contracts and manage external resources as requiredExecutes complex, simultaneous projects to fulfill project definition requirements whose approximately $2MillionProvides contractor oversight to ensure safe construction work sitesCommunicates with management to ensure compliance with local, state, Federal and international codes, and regulationsCommunicates any issues with Environmental Health and safety department and Management to ensure safety of company personal and contractorsCloses projects on schedule, at or below budget, and to a high-quality standard with completion of all deliverables including commissioning & qualification reports, turnover of manuals & spare parts, and technician trainingConducts routine project core team and steering committee meetings and provides regular progress updates summarizing the status of projectsDemonstrates a visible & tangible commitment to EHS, Lean Principles, and the Boehringer-Ingelheim Values in all work-related activitiesMaintains Engineering Dashboard, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and Project Portfolio Management (PPM) data related to schedules, deliverables, budgets, spending, and approvals through all phases of the projectManages and updates project schedules in Microsoft ProjectMonitors and controls project spending versus CPA budgetsCoordinates contractor access to facilities and manage contractor badges and EHS training for project related activitiesGenerates, revises, distributes, and archives project documentsCreates requisitions and processes contractor invoicesPerforms basic office work including printing, copying, scanning, and filing Skills Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution requiredAt least five (5) years Animal/ Human Health industry knowledge (e.g.

Consulting, engineering, operational leadership, business excellence improvements) Including influencing or leading othersGlobal Supply Animal health / human pharmaceutical business experience, with significant technical/engineering/operations experience for the manufacturing of GMP productsMust have experience with advanced problem–solving, project coordination, and steering a culture to deliver the project on-time, within budget, and to meet expected deliverablesShould be able to demonstrate project / program ROI results from previous experienceAbility to successfully steer, report, facilitate, challenge, and deliver technical projects on-time and meet the strategic deliverablesDemonstrated engineering and automation knowledge to serve as a technical partner on a broad range of operational topicsProject management experience and ability to oversee multiple projects running simultaneously and provide quality control and guidance on projectsDemonstrated ability to bridge strategic and operational thinking, translating strategy into operational tacticsKnowledge of operations management tactics to ensure project plan can be translated into operational realityEntrepreneurial spirit, self-starter and strong initiativeStrong general management and problem solvingDemonstrated business acumen, analytical and financial skillsDemonstrated diversity and inclusion/cultural awarenessBS degree in construction-related engineering (engineering management, civil, mechanical, etc.) or related field from accredited engineering school and four to seven (4-7) years of relevant engineering experiencePlanning organization, coordinating, and developing projects, budgetsObtaining bids, coordinating construction projects for facilities and/or equipment repairs, negotiate contracts, discuss projectsStrong team orientation and ability to work cross functionally with various groups such as Safety, Quality, Maintenance, Purchasing, Industrial Development, R&D, and ManufacturingAbreast of new developments in Engineering fields that pertain to facilities, utilities, and various other operations throughout the plantScheduling capital activities to meet production needsAbility to execute multi-discipline assignments and ability to master new skills quicklyCoordinating construction activities to minimize impact on productionEffective interpersonal skills with a diverse group of individuals at all organizational levelsProficiency in relevant computer software and programs, associated with Engineering (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, Microsoft Project, and AutoCAD or equivalent programs)Attention to detail and commitment to customer serviceStrong ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively with all levels of corporate and local management and employeesMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictionMust be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)Must be 18 years of age or olderMBA preferredMasters in Engineering or MBA preferredPMP and/or EIT or PE or strong desire to pursue preferredExperience with cGMP compliance or related quality systemsExperience with Lean and Six Sigma tools and methodologies Company Overview Boehringer Ingelheim is a group of pharmaceutical companies that focuses on prescription medicines and animal health.
