Backend Developer Consultant - Tech Consultancy

Salary: £95,000 - 130,000 per year

Requirements

• All applicants must be UK security cleared to Developed Vetting level.
• Candidates should have hands-on experience with one or more technologies relevant to the role.
• Experience in software development and a passion for writing code.
• Understanding of software development fundamentals in Java, TypeScript, JavaScript, and/or Python.
• Good overall engineering patterns and practices, with the ability to explain them clearly.
• Demonstrable experience working in teams, particularly in Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
• Able to collaborate with and learn from people with different skills, backgrounds, and perspectives.
• Natural initiative-taker who can bring out the best in others.
• Brillia‌nt listener who can help grow our business without compromising standards, integrity, or culture.

Responsibilities

• Help deliver features end to end.
• Work collaboratively to design new features and solve bugs.
• Deliver cloud native and containerised applications using technologies including AWS Lambda, Spring Boot, NodeJS, Python FastAPI, Oracle, PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Build solutions as part of a DevSecOps and Agile ecosystem supported by tooling including Atlassian, Jenkins, GitLab, OWASP and AWS componentry.
• Ensure solutions work in a reliable and resilient way using Site Reliability Engineering methods to increase availability while reducing costs and callouts.
• Help the client and end users understand trade-offs when making product decisions and explain why we would do things a certain way.
• Keep learning through workshops, shared resources, and contribution to our engineering culture.
• Champion small details, spot opportunities, and add extra value for our clients.
