Salary: £25,000 - 65,000 per year

• We need knowledge of data modelling, including UML and star schema.
• We require knowledge of best-practice data maturity and data quality frameworks such as DAMA.
• We need strong expertise in Microsoft Azure, Fabric, and the Microsoft 365 platform.
• We require fluency in one or more of the following: SQL, Python (pandas, PySpark, REST API integration), M Power Query, DAX, or JavaScript.
• We require proven experience as a Data Architect, Data Engineer, or in a similar role.
• We need extensive experience with database management systems, data modelling, data integration, and data cleansing.
• We require proficiency in SQL, Power BI, Python pandas, UML, BPMN2.0 process mapping, and Microsoft Visio or similar diagramming tools.
• We strongly prefer experience with Microsoft Fabric, Power Query, Power Automate, and Python AI libraries and techniques such as sci-kit learn, Transformers, vector databases, retrieval augmented generation, and prompt engineering.
• We require experience with data warehousing, ETL processes, and data governance frameworks.
• We value experience in organisational change management.
• We require the right to reside and work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• We provide senior technical leadership and hands-on delivery of our data platform and data products.
• We design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, high-quality data solutions that support operational and strategic decision making.
• We act as the senior technical authority for data engineering across the organisation.
• We define and enforce engineering standards, patterns, and best practices.
• We own key technical decisions and manage technical debt pragmatically.
• We manage, mentor, and guide Data Engineers, supporting capability development and consistency.
• We design, build, and maintain an integrated data platform and lakehouse architecture that meets business needs.
• We develop and maintain logical and physical data models optimised for analytics and reporting.
• We ensure solutions are scalable, secure, performant, and cost effective.
• We evolve the data platform in line with business growth and emerging technologies.
• We design and implement robust data ingestion and integration pipelines from multiple source systems.
• We apply a medallion architecture across Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers.
• We build curated, analytics-ready datasets that are trusted and well documented.
• We ensure data quality, consistency, and traceability throughout the data lifecycle.
• We work closely with business Product Owners to translate prioritised outcomes into technical deliverables.
• We clarify requirements, identify dependencies, and propose realistic delivery options.
• We balance competing domain demands through transparent sequencing and planning.
• We communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs clearly to stakeholders.
• We implement and maintain data governance controls within engineering solutions.
• We support data quality monitoring, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.
• We contribute to and maintain technical documentation, data lineage, and metadata artefacts.
• We ensure compliance with data security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
• We promote modern engineering and delivery practices across the data team.
• We introduce automation, optimisation, and improved tooling where appropriate.
• We support organisational adoption of data products through reliability and usability.
