Requirements
- We are looking for experience in systems or software engineering delivery, with strong knowledge of engineering governance processes.
- We require the ability to manage complex technical issues and make engineering judgements with support from subject matter experts.
- We are looking for good problem-solving skills for routine or moderate complexity situations.
- We require a strong understanding of stakeholder management and how to apply it to the benefit of the project.
- We expect all engineers to hold a relevant engineering or STEM qualification, along with appropriate academic or professional credentials.
- We support candidates to achieve Incorporated or Chartered status through a recognised institution, and we prefer applicants who are already professionally registered.
Responsibilities
- We support the Technical Authority and Engineering Manager in managing project engineering activities and help provide direction on overall project delivery.
- We manage the planning of engineering tasks within the project and feed into product-level planning.
- We identify, assess, and manage risks to the success of the project.
- We support interactions with the Project Technical Council and our complex stakeholder network.
- We prepare for and support design review assessments for the project.
- We contribute to the efficient and robust delivery of the engineering scope for Project Hopper.
- We help ensure the solution delivers the assurance, reliability, and performance characteristics required to achieve the project aims.

We are BAE Systems, and this role sits within our Project Hopper team supporting the Shared Infrastructure and Combat Management System obsolescence programme. Project Hopper is a critical technology refresh initiative delivering into both the T26 Build Programme and the RECODE In-Service Technical Refresh Programme, bringing together the latest technologies and ways of working to create a modern, high-performance product for the surface ships fleet. This is a hybrid role based in New Malden, Broad Oak, with three days per week onsite and a salary of circa £50,000 depending on skills and experience. The role offers regular engagement with the MoD, key suppliers, and internal stakeholders, along with strong visibility across the business and opportunities to develop your skills and career.
