Senior Data Engineer

Salary: £45,000 - 85,000 per year

Requirements

• We are looking for a hands-on, technically strong engineer with strong experience working with AWS-based data platforms.
• We need excellent Python and SQL skills, with a focus on clean, production-quality code.
• We are looking for experience designing and maintaining data pipelines at scale.
• We need a solid understanding of data modelling, data lakes and warehouse architectures.
• We value exposure to Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD workflows.
• We are looking for a proactive, ownership mindset and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Desirable: experience building or maintaining web scraping or external data ingestion pipelines.
• Desirable: exposure to machine learning workflows or data science environments.
• Desirable: previous experience working in a startup or scale-up setting.

Responsibilities

• We will own and evolve our AWS-based data platform, including our data lake, warehouse and modelling layers.
• We will design and build scalable data pipelines ingesting large volumes of structured and unstructured external data.
• We will develop infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, including CDK and Terraform.
• We will improve platform performance, scalability and reliability, ensuring production-grade data systems.
• We will establish and promote engineering best practices, including CI/CD, testing, documentation and monitoring.
• We will collaborate with product and data stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
• We will support the ongoing development of our data architecture to enable advanced analytics and future machine learning use cases.
• We will act as a senior technical voice within the team, contributing to design decisions and platform direction.
