Remote Intern Software Engineer - Compilers

Salary: £34,000 - 54,000 per year

Requirements

• We are looking for someone who is enrolled in a BSc, MSc, or alternative education program in Computer Science or a related field, ideally in the last year; relevant working experience may also be considered.
• We require some practical C/C++ development experience, including university projects.
• We are looking for an understanding of object-oriented design principles.
• We require residence in the Netherlands and the right to work in the Netherlands.

Responsibilities

• We want you to focus on one core development project during the internship, driven by you under 1-to-1 supervision from a senior developer.
• You will work on improving our CheerpJ JIT by familiarizing yourself with CheerpJ, learning about just-in-time compilation, and adding new features to the JIT.
• You may work on creating a new testing infrastructure using Nix by familiarizing yourself with Nix, designing and implementing infrastructure for our CI, and adding test workflows to our products.

We develop solutions that compile, emulate, and virtualise C/C++, Java, Flash, and native Linux applications into HTML5/WebAssembly. Our products are used by a global client base that includes multiple Fortune-100 companies and public sector organisations across sectors such as financial services, CAD software, HR and operations, logistics, defence and aerospace, retail, science and education, and videogames. This is a full-time paid internship based in Amsterdam near Amstel station in the Netherlands, lasting 6 months and starting in April/May 2026.
