Requirements

  • We are looking for 4–5+ years of data engineering or general software development experience in a commercial setting.
  • We need strong hands-on proficiency in both Java and Python for production systems.
  • We require demonstrated experience designing and implementing complex ETL/ELT processes from concept to production.
  • We expect proficiency in SQL and data exploration across large, complex datasets.
  • We need experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, BigQuery, and Snowflake, and with terabyte-scale or larger datasets.
  • We require a solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
  • We expect professional experience building REST services and working with event queue systems.
  • We need familiarity with Linux and cloud infrastructure design on AWS or equivalent cloud providers.
  • We look for systems performance and tuning experience, with an understanding of how architecture impacts scalability.
  • We require a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • We value strong analytical skills and the ability to write clean, correct, and efficient code.
  • We expect you to be self-paced, organized, and detail-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and pride in your work.
  • We need the ability to break down complex problems into simple, pragmatic solutions.
  • We value strong interpersonal skills, intense curiosity, and enthusiasm for solving difficult problems.
  • We need willingness and ability to take on new technologies as our stack evolves.

Responsibilities

  • We design, build, and maintain robust ETL/ELT data pipelines that process terabyte-scale data across Snowflake, BigQuery, Hive, and other platforms.
  • We develop scalable, reusable data models and curated datasets for analytics, data science, CRM, machine learning, and other data consumers across the organization.
  • We own the full lifecycle of data pipelines, including defining SLAs, implementing performance measurements, monitoring, and anomaly detection.
  • We ensure enterprise data integrity, validation, documentation, and governance.
  • We write production Java and Python code across our platform stack, from data ingestion and event processing to REST services and internal tooling.
  • We build and maintain streaming and batch processing systems using Flink, Spark, and Kafka for real-time and analytical workloads.
  • We take responsibility for all aspects of software engineering, including design, implementation, QA, and maintenance, with a CI/CD mindset.
  • We operate on and improve cloud infrastructure on AWS, with familiarity with Gradle, Linux, and related tooling.
  • We take on projects independently and work to leave things better than we found them.
  • We help drive code quality through leadership in design and code review.
  • We collaborate closely with Product, Design, Analytics, and Data Science teams to define specifications and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • We communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders and translate complex data problems into clear solutions.
  • We work alongside engineering groups located around the world in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
