Requirements
- We require you to be able to speak and write English and have working proficiency in both Pashto and Urdu.
- We are looking for proven ability to analyse Violent Extremist Organisation activity, including propaganda, narratives, and platform usage trends within the regional context in Pakistan.
- We require experience using open-source and social media intelligence tools and techniques to collect, analyse, and interpret complex data into actionable insights.
- We are looking for the ability to identify trends, assess messaging shifts, and produce high-quality, accurate, and timely analytical outputs that inform decision-making.
Responsibilities
- We use open-source intelligence investigation skills to conduct research and analysis of open-source information in support of our terrorism research project objectives.
- We acquire and analyse information from open sources, extracting key information to write high-quality narrative reports and project products that are comprehensive, verified, accurate, and placed correctly within the context of Pakistani affairs.
- We work with and support the Investigations Lead and Senior Project Manager to ensure analysis is focused effectively on project tasking and product priorities.
- We provide assistance to the team to understand the cultural, political, and social dynamics of Pakistan.
- We provide subject-matter expertise on Violent Extremist Organisation ecosystems in Pakistan, guiding analytical direction and translating OSINT and SOCMINT findings into clear, decision-relevant insights for stakeholders and donors.
- We employ OSINT and SOCMINT tools, techniques, and methodologies to analyse trends and issues related to Violent Extremist Organisation activity in Pakistan.
- We conduct research and analysis as directed in support of project reporting objectives.
- We mentor and support analysts by offering guidance on methodologies, reporting standards, and best practices in monitoring and propaganda analysis.
- We track and analyse propaganda, messaging trends, and narrative shifts from Violent Extremist Organisations in Pakistan across public, niche, encrypted, and semi-closed platforms where accessible.
- We conduct propaganda analysis, including themes, narratives, key influencers, and dissemination networks, and track changes over time.
- We identify emerging platforms, communication trends, and shifts in platform usage to maintain collection relevance.
- We assist with the development, writing, and review of analytical outputs, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and timely delivery across products, while identifying new lines of inquiry and investigation.
- We assist with translation of collected content in Pashto and Urdu, with Dari being beneficial.

Our work focuses on conflict-affected regions including Ukraine, Sudan, Myanmar, and Pakistan, where we investigate and document human rights abuses, war crimes, harms targeting women and minorities, and influence operations. This is a remote contractor role for 4-5 months, available full-time or part-time, and we encourage applicants from under-represented communities.
