SMG Support Engineer

Salary: £30,000 - 66,000 per year

Requirements

• Strong, hands-on experience with Symantec Messaging Gateway (SMG)
• Proven experience in email security hardening and policy management
• Experience supporting live, production email security environments
• Able to work independently with minimal upfront documentation
• Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Review the current SMG configuration and security posture
• Harden existing security settings in line with best practices
• Review, strengthen, and maintain SMG policies and rules
• Carry out regular platform health checks and preventative maintenance
• Identify security gaps or configuration weaknesses and resolve them
• Provide on-site support in Central London (2 days every fortnight)
• Deliver remote support via telephone and email as required
• Document changes, findings, and recommendations clearly
