Requirements
- We require current SC and NPPV3 Security Clearance.
- We require extensive hands-on experience with JUnit, Cucumber, and Selenium WebDriver in complex enterprise environments.
- We require strong understanding of Spring applications, microservices, and distributed architectures.
- We require good knowledge of PostgreSQL, including query optimisation, performance tuning, and data validation.
- We require experience using WireMock for service virtualisation and integration isolation.
- We require strong expertise in performance, load, and stress testing using JMeter.
- We require proven experience leading testing activities within Agile delivery teams.
- We require strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and GitLab CI.
- We require the ability to analyse complex systems, identify risks, and design effective test strategies.
- We require experience with Git, Jira, Confluence, and related engineering tools.
- We require excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- We consider experience testing microservices at scale, including contract testing approaches, highly desirable.
- We consider experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, highly desirable.
- We consider understanding of BDD/TDD practices and quality-driven engineering highly desirable.
- We consider experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, and ELK highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- We will need you to lead hands-on QA automation and SDET testing activities in an Agile delivery environment.
- We will need you to design, build, and maintain automated tests using JUnit, Cucumber, and Selenium WebDriver.
- We will need you to create and execute performance, load, and stress tests using JMeter.
- We will need you to support testing across Spring applications, microservices, and distributed systems.
- We will need you to validate data and analyse PostgreSQL queries for optimisation and performance.
- We will need you to use WireMock to virtualise services and isolate integrations during testing.
- We will need you to assess system risks and shape effective test strategies.
- We will need you to work with CI/CD pipelines and engineering tools to support continuous delivery.
- We will need you to collaborate closely with engineering, delivery, and business stakeholders.
- We will need you to contribute to quality-driven engineering practices across the team.

We are a leading global IT transformation business specialising in large-scale Government projects. This is a 6-month rolling contract based in Birmingham, offered outside IR35 at £400-£450 per day. We work in a hybrid model with 3 days per week remote and 2 days per week in our Birmingham office, with occasional travel to Croydon. The role is due to start as soon as possible in May/June 2026, and offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-profile transformation work within a collaborative technical team.
