Workday HCM Lead

Salary: £60,000 - 66,000 per year

Requirements

• Extensive hands-on Workday HCM configuration experience.
• Strong knowledge of end-to-end HR processes and operating models.
• Experience leading implementations, optimisations, or enterprise-scale support functions.
• A track record of mentoring teams and providing technical oversight.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence at senior level.
• Experience working within Agile, SAFe, or hybrid delivery environments.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the design, configuration, and ongoing evolution of our Workday HCM platform.
• Lead workshops with business stakeholders, architects, and delivery partners to understand complex requirements.
• Translate requirements into scalable, best-practice solutions across Core HCM, Organisations, Staffing Models, Job Architecture, and Business Processes.
• Act as the senior point of escalation for configuration and support issues.
• Oversee enhancements and releases.
• Champion continuous improvement and ensure the platform remains robust, compliant, and fit for the future.
• Mentor colleagues within our team.
• Provide technical assurance across Workday developments.
• Help shape the long-term strategy for one of our most critical enterprise systems.

We are supporting a major public sector greenfield transformation programme to build and deliver a modern cloud-based HR platform for thousands of users across the UK public sector. This is a hybrid role with an organisation investing heavily in digital transformation and cloud technology, giving you genuine influence over the future direction of the Workday platform. We offer a salary of up to £66,000 and benefits including a 26% employer pension contribution. The role is ideally hybrid in Swindon, Stockton, or Newport with one day onsite, although we may consider fully remote UK-based candidates.
