AI Application & Automation Engineer

As Toy Souk continues to evolve as an AI-enabled commerce platform, we are now looking to strengthen the intelligence layer powering our recommendation engine, conversational commerce experience, and operational automations.

We are looking for a practical AI Application & Automation Engineer to work closely with the founder on improving and expanding Buddy the Bear — our AI shopping assistant for parents — along with AI-driven workflows and marketplace automations.

This is NOT a generic software engineering role.

We are specifically looking for someone who has practical experience building or integrating: RAG systems OpenAI APIs vector search / embeddings semantic retrieval AI workflows & automations conversational AI systems backend AI integrations Even if at small or startup scale. 🚀 What You’ll Work On Improving Buddy the Bear recommendation quality Reducing hallucinations and irrelevant responses Semantic search & AI retrieval systems AI-assisted product recommendations AI-driven customer & vendor workflows Vendor onboarding automations Marketplace operational automations Admin dashboards & AI analytics AI-assisted commerce tooling ⚙️ Current Stack Includes Python OpenAI APIs WooCommerce Redis RAG architecture Azure ecosystem (planned) ✅ What We Care About Most Practical AI implementation experience Strong problem-solving mindset Ability to build and ship Startup mentality Curiosity and willingness to learn Clear communication Ownership mindset ❌ We are NOT looking for: prompt-only AI users tutorial-level AI familiarity theoretical AI researchers buzzword-heavy profiles without real implementations This is a: Remote Flexible Long-term Part-time / retained role initially Ideal for someone already working remotely/freelancing who wants to help build an exciting AI-native commerce platform from the ground up.
