Scala Dev - Opencast/HMRC

Salary: £40,000 - 80,000 per year

Requirements

• Strong commercial experience with Scala
• Experience working on UK Government or public sector projects
• Solid understanding and hands-on use of Test-Driven Development (TDD)
• Experience working in agile, sprint-based teams
• Pega experience or exposure is desirable

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications using Scala
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following TDD principles
• Collaborate with product managers, testers, and other engineers in an agile environment
• Contribute to code reviews and technical discussions
• Support continuous improvement of development standards and practices

We are recruiting two Scala Developers for a high-profile UK Government programme, supporting the delivery of scalable, secure digital services. We are offering two initial 3-month contracts, both inside IR35, with strong potential for extension. The roles are remote-first, with travel to Newcastle once per sprint, approximately every two weeks. We are looking for someone who can start ASAP and bring experience in government or public sector delivery.
