Salary: £50,000 - 50,000 per year

Requirements

  • We require Security Clearance, and candidates must have lived in the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years to be eligible.
  • We can only consider candidates who are able to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available for this campaign.
  • We are looking for experience in a cloud-based Linux/Unix environment, ideally AWS, with confidence in scripting, automation, monitoring, and CI/CD practices.
  • We need experience in incident management, root cause analysis, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing preventative solutions using database, querying, and coding knowledge.
  • We require a strong understanding of modern DevOps principles, including automation, CI/CD, and monitoring.
  • We are looking for proven experience supporting business-critical live services with high availability, performance, and reliability.
  • We need experience proactively monitoring, managing, and improving service performance, along with delivering continuous improvements.
  • We require experience reducing manual processes, improving service resilience, and embedding best-practice ways of working.
  • We are looking for demonstrable technical leadership, with the ability to set direction and guide teams in delivering solutions.
  • We need strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed technical decisions in complex environments.
  • We require experience working with secure systems and services, with appropriate controls in place.
  • We are looking for understanding of how systems align with organisational and legislative requirements, including data protection and regulatory change.
  • We need experience working in multidisciplinary agile teams and collaborating with engineers, analysts, and product professionals.
  • We require the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to a range of audiences and to work effectively with stakeholders.
  • We are looking for experience supporting and developing others, sharing knowledge, and promoting a positive team culture.
  • ITIL 4 Foundation is desirable; training can be provided.
  • Technical experience in Unix/Linux environments, shell scripting, cloud infrastructure, automation, monitoring, database querying (SQL, PLSQL), and coding or scripting languages such as shell, Python, or Java is required.
  • Working knowledge of DevOps principles and tools is expected; experience in similar technologies will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • We will expect you to play a key role in our IT Services Digital team during a period of significant change.
  • You will help deliver secure, resilient, and high-performing IT services across existing and newly developed systems.
  • You will support and improve services within our cloud-based Linux/Unix environment using scripting, automation, monitoring, and CI/CD practices.
  • You will carry out maintenance, upgrades, automation, and continuous service improvement activities to maintain optimal performance and reliability.
  • You will help align services to new responsibilities introduced by the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Bill.
  • You will maintain and support live services to ensure high availability and strong performance.
  • You will deliver system upgrades, enhancements, automation initiatives, and service improvements.
  • You will handle ServiceNow incident issues and initiate root cause analysis where needed.
  • You will contribute to reporting and data management as requested by the Directorate.
  • You will help develop projects that improve the range and quality of digital services for our customers.
  • You will take an active part in the transformation of our services and in shaping smarter ways of working.
  • You will coach and mentor colleagues and other IT professionals to support team development and wellbeing.
  • You will contribute to continuous improvement through collaborative working within and outside the team.
  • You will participate in our on-call rota, providing 24/7/365 cover as an essential part of the role.
