Lead User Researcher

Salary: £60,000 - 90,000 per year

Requirements

• We require active SC clearance, with DV preferred, and sole UK national status.
• We are looking for proven experience working with users in the public sector, ideally defence.
• We need strong user research experience, including interviews, surveys, usability testing, and synthesising insights.
• We require experience creating personas, user journeys, pain points, and experience maps.
• We need experience designing wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity mock-ups in Figma.
• We require proficiency in Figma, including components, variants, design tokens, and prototyping.
• We need experience defining and maintaining design systems aligned with accessibility and performance standards.
• We require familiarity with agile delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Slack.
• We need awareness of accessibility standards, including WCAG and Core Web Vitals.
• We require strong communication skills and the ability to engage with senior stakeholders.
• We need experience collaborating with developers on React and TypeScript component delivery.

Responsibilities

• We will lead user experience design and user research within a project team.
• We will engage with senior military and civilian stakeholders, as well as end users, to understand their needs.
• We will conduct user research through interviews, workshops, and usability testing.
• We will create and maintain personas, user journeys, and experience maps to support design decisions.
• We will design wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity mock-ups using Figma.
• We will define and maintain a design system aligned with accessibility and performance standards.
• We will collaborate with developers to ensure design-to-code alignment for React and TypeScript components.
• We will document research findings, design decisions, and UX guidelines in Confluence.
• We will advocate for inclusive design and compliance with WCAG accessibility standards.

We are offering a contract role running until 30/12/2026 in a hybrid working arrangement that is predominantly remote, with some travel to our client site required, estimated at two days per week to London and/or the South.
