Lead Software Engineer (TypeScript / React Native)

Salary: £40,000 - 60,000 per year

Requirements

• Strong experience across the stack, including TypeScript, React Native, React, Node, Postgres, and GCP/Firebase.
• Full-stack mindset with comfort working across mobile apps, web apps, backend services, and SQL.
• Proven ability to write efficient, production-ready code that is reliable, observable, and maintainable.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in a fast-moving startup or product-led environment.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced release culture with multiple deployments per day.
• Product-focused with the ability to empathise with users and help steer feature development.
• Strong problem-solving skills, an ownership mentality, and the ability to work in GMT-friendly time zones.
• Experience with AI-powered software engineering tools such as Cursor, Windsurf, and v0, with enthusiasm for improving productivity.
• Preferred: ability to work from the London office 3 days per week.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end development and delivery of core features across mobile, backend, and internal tooling.
• Shape the technical roadmap and make high-impact architectural decisions in partnership with the founders.
• Own the quality, reliability, and performance of our applications in production.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, and the establishment of strong engineering practices.
• Drive AI-accelerated engineering productivity by leveraging modern tools to ship faster and smarter.
• Remain hands-on by shipping code daily, unblocking the team, and taking responsibility for critical systems.
• Work across our mobile apps, backend services, web apps, and internal ERP platform.
• Support a high-velocity release culture with frequent deployments to a large user base.
