• Strong experience with Java or Kotlin on JVM 11+
• Strong experience with Spring Boot
• Strong experience in enterprise backend development
• Strong experience with REST APIs and microservices
• Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
• Strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Strong experience with Git and modern development practices
• Comfortable operating at Principal level, making technical decisions, solving complex problems, and helping other engineers develop
• Desirable experience with telecommunications billing

• Desirable experience with Redis
• Desirable experience with Elasticsearch or additional programming languages

Responsibilities

• Stay hands-on with around 90% of the role focused on backend development
• Work on a large platform with high-throughput APIs, Azure Cloud, and an event-driven architecture
• Help shape technical direction, engineering standards, and architecture
• Mentor other engineers
• Evaluate new technologies
• Work closely with customers and stakeholders to turn requirements into robust technical solutions

This is a remote-first Principal Software Developer role based around our Newbury office, with only 2-3 visits per year expected, though you are welcome to spend more time there if you prefer.
