Salary: £29,500 - 57,500 per year

Requirements

  • 6 to 10 years of professional software development experience in SQL and NoSQL, with at least 5 years focused on MongoDB.
  • Thorough understanding of MongoDB architecture, including Wired Tiger engine and BSON.
  • Proficiency in integrating MongoDB with backend runtimes such as Node.js/Express, Python/Django/Fast API, or Java/Spring Boot.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP environments for database hosting.
  • Working experience with Data Modeling Tools like MongoDB Compass, Mongoose, or other ODM/ORM frameworks.
  • Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Understanding of data models in RDBMS and NoSQL environments.
  • Knowledge of database best practices.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools.
  • Exposure to Agile delivery environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement advanced MongoDB data models (normalized/denormalized) to support evolving application needs.
  • Profile and fine-tune database performance by implementing sophisticated indexing strategies and analyzing query execution plans.
  • Manage distributed database architectures, including sharded clusters and replica sets to ensure 99.9% uptime.
  • Develop complex aggregation pipelines and optimize read/write operations for large-scale datasets.
  • Expertly manage MongoDB Atlas deployments, including security configurations and cloud-native monitoring.
  • Implement robust security measures, including Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and regular security audits.
  • Automate routine database operations using CI/CD pipelines and scripting languages.
  • Provide technical guidance and code reviews for junior developers, ensuring adherence to best practices in MongoDB development.
  • Champion database best practices and contribute to continuous improvement across the engineering function.
  • Lead end-to-end database delivery, including schema design, performance tuning, and ongoing health monitoring across the full development lifecycle.
