Lead Security Architect

Salary: £60,000 - 90,000 per year

Requirements

• We require proven experience operating as a Security Architect or Enterprise Architect within large, complex environments.
• We require strong capability in designing and reviewing secure systems at scale.
• We require demonstrable experience managing and articulating complex security risks.
• We require a deep understanding of modern security architecture, principles, and technologies.
• We require experience working on cloud-based or large-scale transformation programmes.
• We require strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
• We require clearance at BPSS level.
• We consider experience within public sector or healthcare environments desirable.
• We consider knowledge of UK government or industry security standards and frameworks desirable.
• We consider exposure to enterprise-level security strategy and governance desirable.
• We consider experience contributing to or working within large-scale digital transformation programmes desirable.

Responsibilities

• We will lead the security architecture and design of systems and services across a large digital estate.
• We will develop, maintain, and review secure architecture patterns, standards, and principles.
• We will ensure security requirements are embedded throughout the solution lifecycle.
• We will engage with senior stakeholders to communicate security risks, trade-offs, and design decisions.
• We will assess and provide guidance on complex and high-impact security risks.
• We will contribute to enterprise architecture decisions, security strategy, and transformation initiatives.
• We will research, evaluate, and apply emerging security technologies and innovative solutions.
• We will act as a technical escalation point for architects and engineering teams.
• We will support governance activities, including quality assurance of architecture deliverables.
• We will promote and influence security best practices across technical and non-technical teams.

We are supporting a major UK-based digital transformation programme and offering a 12-month contract for a Lead Security Architect to work remotely with occasional travel to London. This is a high-impact opportunity to help shape secure, scalable digital services within a complex large-scale environment, working alongside senior stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams. We are looking for someone who can provide leadership across enterprise security architecture and contribute to the delivery of robust, secure solutions.
