NMC Cyber Vulnerability Specialist

Salary: £35,000 - 60,000 per year

Requirements

• Experience coordinating vulnerability and patch management across complex enterprise environments
• Understanding of attack surface and vulnerability prioritisation frameworks
• Understanding of underlying technologies including operating systems, applications, cloud, and enterprise infrastructure
• Experience translating technical findings into actionable insights
• Stakeholder engagement experience across technical teams and senior leadership
• Ability to explain complex information to non-technical audiences
• Ability to be eligible for NPPV3 and SC clearances, with NPPV3 approved before starting
• Desirable: understanding of the law enforcement ecosystem or previous policing background
• Desirable: relevant certifications such as Sec, CySA, GEVA, OSWA, or vendor-specific certifications
• Desirable: technical ability to understand and interpret proof of concepts and exploits
• Desirable: experience building a vulnerability management programme
• Desirable: experience driving vulnerability best practice across enterprise environments
• Desirable: understanding of how AI technologies will impact vulnerability programmes

Responsibilities

• Support the end-to-end vulnerability lifecycle across policing environments
• Produce regular vulnerability reports tailored to different audiences, from technical teams to senior leadership
• Work directly with forces to present vulnerabilities and translate findings into operational risk
• Support force patching schedules and help prioritise remediation based on risk and operational constraints
• Maintain awareness of the current threat landscape and newly disclosed vulnerabilities to provide timely reports
• Identify trends, recurring vulnerabilities, and systemic issues across force estates and provide strategic recommendations
• Support incident response, threat hunting, and threat intelligence functions
• Help develop and document our vulnerability management offering, including policy, process, and governance
• Help forces define and implement their vulnerability lifecycle from discovery to closure
• Promote asset inventory and classification processes to ensure accurate scan coverage
• Contribute to dashboards and reporting templates that give stakeholders visibility of risk posture
• Promote best practice and a culture of vulnerability management across policing

We are Police Digital Service, and we are looking for an experienced and resourceful Cyber Vulnerability Specialist to help develop and strengthen the NMC Cyber Threat Team. This is a permanent, full-time role with a starting salary of £55,000 per annum. You will work in a hybrid environment, with the opportunity to collaborate in our modern office and work from home two days a week.
