Network Automation Engineer

Salary: £50,000 - 80,000 per year

Requirements

• Expert-level knowledge of Ansible (Roles, Playbooks, Jinja2) and Python for network automation tasks
• Strong experience with Cisco NDFC/NX-OS and Fortinet FortiGate firewalls
• Familiarity with NetBox as a Source of Truth and Git for version control
• Practical knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and automation workflows
• Experience with VMware VCF APIs or NSX-T automation
• Familiarity with Terraform for orchestrating provider-based infrastructure (bonus)
• Cisco Certified DevNet Associate/Professional or equivalent (bonus)
• Comfortable deploying hardware in data centres (bonus)

Responsibilities

• Design and implement sophisticated Ansible roles and playbooks to automate the lifecycle of Cisco and Fortinet devices
• Maintain the networks Source of Truth using NetBox to ensure accurate modeling of physical and logical assets
• Develop Python scripts and custom integrations to connect platforms using REST APIs, Netconf, and modern authentication protocols
• Build and maintain NetDevOps pipelines using GitLab and GitHub Actions for efficient network change management
• Automate networking layers of the VMware Cloud Foundation platform by collaborating with compute and storage teams via VCF APIs
• Implement automated drift detection to identify manual changes and create self-healing workflows to reduce Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR) for incidents
