Job Description

The Database Administrator II (SQL DBA) will be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and securing databases while mentoring junior team members.

Responsibilities Will work on the installation, configuration, and upgrading of databasesPerform routine database maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, and recovery operationsMonitor database performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal performanceWork with senior administrators to fine-tune database parameters and queriesApply patches, updates, and upgrades to databases in a timely mannerImplement and maintain database security measures to protect data integrity and confidentialityAssist in setting up user accounts, roles, and permissionsPerform regular database backups and ensure that backup and recovery procedures are in place and effectiveAssist in disaster recovery planning and executionMaintain accurate documentation of database configurations, procedures, and changesCreate and update operational manuals and troubleshooting guidesProvide technical support for database-related issuesWork with development and application teams to resolve database issues and improve system performanceParticipate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours and weekend supportWork closely with other IT staff, including developers, system administrators, and network engineers, to ensure seamless integration and operation of database systemsStay current with new database technologies and best practicesParticipate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge Skills Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent knowledge and experience3+ years of experience as an MS SQL Database AdministratorCompetent with SQL coding and troubleshootingExperience with on-prem and Azure SQLAbility to work in an on-call rotationRelevant SQL DBA certifications are a plusExperience with Rubrik is a plus, but not requiredExperience with SQL Sentry is a plus, but not required Benefits Competitive wagesMedical with telemedicineDental and VisionBasic and Optional Life InsurancePaid Time Off (PTO)Maternity, Parental, Family CareCommunity Volunteer Time Off12 Paid HolidaysCompany Paid Disability Insurance401k (with employer match)Health Savings Accounts (HSA) with company provided contributionsFlexible Spending Accounts (FSA)Supplemental InsuranceMental Health and Well-being: Employee Assistance Program (EAP)Tuition ReimbursementWellness programBenefits are subject to generally applicable eligibility, waiting period, contribution, and other requirements and conditions Company Overview Velera provides financial technology and processing solutions for credit unions.
