1st Line Network Engineer

Salary: £34,000 - 74,000 per year

Requirements

• Basic understanding of networking, including WAN, VPNs, routing, and switching
• Familiarity with troubleshooting connectivity issues
• Experience in a helpdesk or support environment
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritise workloads and work to SLAs
• Experience with ticketing systems, such as ServiceNow, is beneficial
• Knowledge of firewall platforms is desirable
• Exposure to monitoring tools is desirable
• Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+ or progress toward CCNA are desirable
• Relevant IT qualification, such as a Diploma, Degree, or Higher Certificate in Networking, IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline, is desirable
• Alternatively, demonstrable equivalent networking knowledge gained through coursework or hands-on experience is acceptable

Responsibilities

• We will manage and resolve support tickets via phone, email, and remote tools
• We will perform first-line diagnostics on network and connectivity issues
• We will escalate complex issues to senior engineers where required
• We will monitor systems and respond to alerts, such as latency and outages
• We will maintain accurate documentation and update ticketing systems
• We will communicate effectively with customers and third-party suppliers
• We will act as the first point of contact for customers, providing technical support and troubleshooting
• We will manage support tickets from initial logging through to resolution or escalation while maintaining customer satisfaction and SLA targets
