Database Engineer

Salary: £45,500 - 52,500 per year

Requirements

• We are looking for strong experience with Azure SQL and complex relational database design
• We need advanced T-SQL skills, including stored procedures and performance tuning
• We require experience across OLTP and OLAP data models
• We need expertise in security, scaling, cost optimisation and database maintenance
• We are looking for experience building ETL/ELT pipelines, such as Azure Data Factory and dbt
• We need knowledge of Power BI-optimised data models and reporting performance

Responsibilities

• We design and optimise scalable, high-performance SQL database architectures
• We own and improve stored procedures, reusable scripts and database standards
• We provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers and lead code reviews
• We deliver clear documentation covering data models and architectural decisions
• We drive database-focused projects through to delivery

We are a global professional services organisation with a technology team responsible for designing, optimising and maintaining high-performance database platforms that support SaaS applications, reporting environments and client billing systems. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering. The position is based in Manchester on a hybrid working pattern of 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.
