Technical Architect

Salary: £45,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements

• We are looking for an experienced Technical Architect with a strong background in large-scale enterprise or public sector environments.
• We need deep experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native architecture principles.
• We require experience designing microservices and API-led architectures.
• We are seeking strong knowledge of Kubernetes and container platforms such as EKS or OpenShift.
• We need experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally using Terraform or CloudFormation.
• We expect understanding of CI/CD tooling and DevOps delivery practices.
• We need experience designing secure systems in regulated or high-security environments.
• We are looking for strong stakeholder engagement and technical leadership skills.
• We require knowledge of networking, identity and access management, and platform security principles.
• We require experience working in government or public sector environments.

Responsibilities

• We design and govern scalable cloud-native architectures across complex digital services.
• We produce high-level and low-level technical designs, architecture decision records, and integration patterns.
• We support delivery teams with engineering best practice and architectural guidance.
• We define secure-by-design solutions in regulated and highly governed environments.
• We drive adoption of modern DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code approaches.
• We work across microservices, APIs, event-driven architectures, and container platforms.
• We collaborate with security, infrastructure, and delivery teams to ensure operational resilience and scalability.
• We support technical assurance, governance, and stakeholder engagement activities.

We are supporting a major public sector digital programme seeking two experienced Technical Architects to help shape and deliver large-scale cloud-native platforms and services within a highly secure, data-driven environment. This is a hands-on architecture role where we work across strategy, solution design, and engineering enablement to modernise complex systems and improve operational resilience. The role is remote, outside IR35, and offered at a rate dependent on experience for an initial six-month contract.
