Requirements

• Strong software engineering experience with Python
• Hands-on experience building Infrastructure as Code solutions with Terraform
• Experience creating reusable templates and code generation solutions using Jinja/Jinja2
• Experience automating Windows environments with PowerShell
• Experience working with configuration management tools such as Puppet
• Experience building CI/CD integrations for infrastructure delivery
• Experience working with cloud, platform, and engineering teams in complex environments
• Ability to drive infrastructure standardisation, reliability, and scalability
• Experience working on secure, large-scale cloud infrastructure or platform engineering projects

We are hiring an Automation Software Engineer to join a major long-term government technology programme, helping us build large and secure customer contact and communications platforms used by critical organisations. This is a software engineering-focused infrastructure automation role where you will work on complex cloud infrastructure, automation, and platform engineering challenges with real impact. The position is based in Southampton, Hampshire, with a hybrid working pattern of 2 days onsite and 3 days remote, and the wider location options include Eastleigh, Hedge End, Whiteley, Southampton, and Fareham.
