Principal Engineer

Salary: £132,000 - 144,000 per year

Requirements

• Demonstrable experience as a Principal Engineer on large-scale modernisation or platform programmes.
• Strong background in cloud-native engineering on AWS, including Kubernetes-based platforms.
• Deep hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and Node.js, building scalable and resilient backend services.
• Experience modernising or integrating with mainframe or legacy enterprise systems in high-volume environments.
• Proven ability to enforce engineering standards and operate effectively within high-governance, regulated, or public sector contexts.
• Strong understanding of Agile delivery, DevOps practices, CI/CD, and engineering lifecycle management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce and assure high-quality technical documentation.
