Salary: £58,000 - 98,000 per year

Requirements

• We require a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
• We require at least 10 years of software development experience, including MS SQL Server with SSIS.
• We require at least 5 years in a leadership role within banking or financial services.
• We require a proven track record of managing large-scale software delivery projects in core banking, Treasury systems, and finance systems.
• We require experience with Equation and SQL Server environments.
• We require strong knowledge of software development methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, and DevOps.
• We require proficiency in programming languages and software development tools, including languages such as Java, C#, and Python.
• We require excellent leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Relevant certifications such as PMP, Scrum Master, or ITIL are a plus.

Responsibilities

• We lead and implement the software delivery strategy for the private banking division in line with our business goals.
• We lead the adoption and integration of best practices for software development, deployment, and maintenance.
• We stay informed about emerging technologies and methodologies to improve our software delivery capabilities.
• We oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of software projects related to core banking, Treasury systems, Finance systems, and Equation.
• We ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget while managing risks, dependencies, and resources.
• We lead, mentor, and manage a team of software developers, project managers, and QA engineers.
• We foster collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within our team.
• We conduct performance reviews, identify training needs, and support career development.
• We work closely with business units, product owners, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and priorities.
• We ensure effective communication and alignment between development teams and stakeholders.
• We provide regular updates on project status, risks, and outcomes to senior management.
• We implement testing frameworks and quality assurance processes to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• We monitor and improve software performance, reliability, and security.
• We continuously analyze and improve software delivery processes.
• We implement and refine agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
• We manage relationships with external vendors and service providers.
• We negotiate contracts and oversee vendor deliverables related to our private banking systems.

We are a bank based in Central London, with some remote working possible and a requirement to be in the office at least 3 days a week. This is a permanent, full-time Head of Software Development role focused on private banking operations, with responsibility for core banking, Treasury, Finance, Equation, MS SQL Server, and SSIS reporting environments. The salary is circa 75,000 to 100,000.
