Remote Senior Frontend Engineer - UK

Salary: £29,000 - 58,000 per year

Requirements

• We probably look for a degree in a STEM subject, though we are open to candidates who have developed their craft through a different route.
• We are looking for experience working at a similar level in a mature engineering team, with the ambition to take the next step in your career.
• We need deep technical expertise in frontend engineering, including designing, building, and maintaining complex, scalable frontend systems using modern frameworks, ideally React.

Responsibilities

• We define the best technical solutions to business problems and contribute to an architectural vision that can scale into a leading research platform.
• We ship working code, primarily using React on the frontend and Kotlin microservices with Postgres on the backend, with some legacy Ruby on Rails services.
• We deploy frequently using CIrcleCI and Spinnaker for CI/CD, gather feedback quickly, and use it to inform our next iteration.
• We build our competency by learning quickly from experienced colleagues and using our learning and development budget to develop specific technical skills.
• We monitor our services carefully, catch errors before users notice them, diagnose root causes, and deploy fixes.
• We take ownership of the services managed by our team and ensure development aligns with our Engineering strategy.
• We work closely with product managers, designers, and the wider business to deliver code that solves real problems for internal and external customers.
• We mentor more junior engineers.
