Systems Engineer

Salary: £45,000 - 50,000 per year

Requirements

• Ability to diagnose complex faults, document issues, communicate clearly, and follow up on corrective actions
• Good knowledge of TCP/IP networking concepts, including routing, switching, firewalling, and Layer 7 firewalls
• Experience with Linux environments, including CentOS or Ubuntu, Apache, and MySQL
• Experience with Asterisk and VoIP platforms
• Intermediate-level experience with Windows Server and VMware
• Hardware and/or software systems development and design experience
• Programming knowledge, including scripting in Bash and Perl
• Working knowledge of satellite networks and infrastructure, firewalls, and traffic shaping
• Must have or be able to obtain SC Clearance

Responsibilities

• Act as our in-house product expert on selected systems and applications, keeping up to date with developments in the IT and communications industry relevant to our markets
• Produce and maintain detailed technical documentation for new solutions and developments
• Work with our Product Management team to ensure new developments are rolled out effectively across the organisation
• Work with external customers to design onboard vessel and land networks for fleets and remote sites
• Design solutions including bespoke builds, virtualisation, high availability, traffic prioritisation, integration into existing infrastructure, and ongoing support
• Identify off-the-shelf products and develop in-house products for design and integration to best suit our business and client needs
