Job Description
Salary: £38,000 - 40,000 per year
Requirements
- We are looking for proven experience managing a small-to-medium infrastructure team, ideally for several years.
- We want someone with experience leading cloud platform adoption and optimisation, such as Microsoft Azure and M365.
- We require strong skills in Infrastructure as Code, including tools such as Terraform and scripting in Python.
- We need experience building automated CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure artefacts, with good source control, code review, and release management practices.
- We are looking for someone who can work effectively with Service Desk and Applications teams to support incident, problem, and change processes and escalation paths.
- We need strong technical documentation skills, including producing runbooks and knowledge articles.
- We require experience planning and project managing infrastructure changes from discovery through to deployment, including scoping, resourcing, dependency management, risk and issue tracking, stakeholder communication, and post-implementation review.
- We are looking for experience delivering M&A and onboarding projects for new schools, including discovery, integration, migration, and stabilisation.
- We need someone who can line manage and develop an Infrastructure Team through objective setting, coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
- Candidates must be able to pass an enhanced DBS check on joining.
- Experience within an education environment is highly desirable.
- We are seeking a candidate based in or willing to work from Plymouth, Devon, with remote working and travel to client sites.
Responsibilities
- We lead the delivery, reliability, and security of our core IT infrastructure and platforms.
- We line manage our Infrastructure Team and support its growth as the organisation expands.
- We plan and execute infrastructure change projects while minimising disruption to teaching, learning, and operational services.
- We drive technical standards, automation, and cloud adoption as part of our IT Leadership Team.
- We maintain strong service outcomes and ensure compliance within an education setting.
- We work closely with Service Desk and Applications teams to manage incidents, problems, changes, and escalation routes.
- We produce clear technical documentation, runbooks, and knowledge articles.
- We manage infrastructure projects from discovery to deployment, including risk, issue, and stakeholder management.
- We support M&A and onboarding activities for new schools, including integration, migration, and stabilisation.
- We coach, develop, and performance-manage team members to build capability and succession.
