Job Description

Salary: £27,000 - 30,000 per year

Requirements

  • We need functional knowledge of internet-based networking protocols.
  • We need working knowledge of routers, switches, radio equipment, and fibre technologies.
  • We need 1-2 years of industry experience in a networking or telecommunications environment, including ISP experience.
  • We need experience providing technical support to end users for Wi-Fi and router issues.
  • We need experience using network monitoring tools.
  • We need experience with network cable terminations, CAT, fibre, and DC.
  • We need experience diagnosing and resolving network faults.
  • We need experience triaging support tickets, assigning priorities, and understanding different ticket types.
  • We need good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • We need CompTIA+ Networks certification.
  • CCNA, JNCIA, Tetra, and 18th Edition Electrical compliance and safety qualifications are desirable.
  • We value knowledge of ONMSI/Viavi, CPE management, OLT platform management, Ubiquiti Cloud Management, Adtran, Nokia, and Eltek/Vertiv systems.
  • We need excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • We need strong attention to detail.
  • We need a customer-focused approach and a commitment to positive service.
  • We need the ability to explain complex technical issues in simple terms.
  • We need the ability to work independently, prioritise workloads, and take ownership of projects.

Responsibilities

  • We support, maintain, and upgrade our Fibre to the Premises and Fixed Wireless Access network infrastructure.
  • We prioritise network maintenance and expansion activities onsite across FTTP and FWA product lines.
  • We install equipment into telephone exchanges and street cabinets.
  • We configure devices and support strategic deployment for planned works.
  • We carry out fault finding, root cause analysis, and resolution activities onsite and remotely in our NOC.
  • We use network monitoring systems and tools to help ensure optimal network performance and uptime.
  • We complete system upgrades and configuration changes in line with our processes.
  • We provide NOC support, including ticket generation, triage, escalation, and responses to customers and internal teams.
  • We test, install, and maintain network hub sites and devices.
  • We support the wider Networks team, including NOC, Access, and Core, and provide technical guidance.
  • We liaise with internal departments and external customers to resolve network faults effectively.
  • We provide subject matter expertise to Network Support Technicians and customers.
  • We maintain accurate documentation in our CRM, workflow processes, and knowledge bases.
  • We ensure all work is signed off and completed correctly within control processes.
  • We assist with inventory management, stock control, and equipment ordering.
  • We produce and maintain reports and analytics on uptime, downtime, ticket counts, and resolution times.
  • We prepare thoroughly for upcoming work to meet scope, budget, and timeline requirements.
  • We participate in our departmental on-call rota to provide 24/7 customer service coverage.
  • We provide tier 2 technical support and cover for colleagues when needed.
