Job Description
Salary: £43,000 - 83,000 per year
Requirements
- We require candidates to be UK-based and to have continuously resided in the UK for a minimum of five years.
- We require eligibility to obtain NPPV3 and SC clearance; existing NPPV3 and/or SC clearance is highly advantageous.
- We are looking for experience in Microsoft Azure infrastructure and cloud services.
- We are looking for experience in Microsoft 365 administration and support.
- We are looking for experience in hybrid cloud and on-premise infrastructure environments.
- We are looking for experience in server administration and enterprise infrastructure support.
- We are looking for experience with virtualisation technologies including VMware and VxRail.
- We are looking for experience with Microsoft Server technologies, storage, and related infrastructure services.
- We are looking for experience providing third-line infrastructure support in a complex technical environment.
- We are looking for experience in infrastructure monitoring, performance management, and service availability.
- Desirable experience includes working in a secure public sector, policing, or government environment.
- Desirable experience includes knowledge of ITIL service management principles.
- Desirable experience includes Active Directory administration, including Group Policy and identity management.
- Desirable experience includes networking concepts such as TCP/IP, LAN, and WAN technologies.
- Desirable experience includes supporting cyber security remediation and compliance activities.
- Relevant Microsoft or infrastructure certifications are desirable.
Responsibilities
- We provide third-line support for infrastructure incidents, problems, and service requests.
- We design, implement, and maintain hybrid server and cloud infrastructure solutions.
- We support and administer Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments.
- We manage and maintain server, storage, and virtualisation platforms.
- We ensure systems are proactively monitored and maintained to maximise service availability.
- We implement security controls, patch management, and remediation activities.
- We support infrastructure projects and wider technology improvement initiatives.
- We produce and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
- We work closely with security, networking, and operational teams to deliver resilient infrastructure services.
- We participate in an out-of-hours support rota when required.

We are supporting a secure public sector organisation in the East Midlands with a predominantly remote contract opportunity for an experienced Server & Cloud Engineer. This role sits within a specialist infrastructure team responsible for the design, implementation, support, and ongoing development of a complex hybrid technology estate. You will help keep critical systems resilient, secure, and available in an environment that directly supports operational effectiveness and public safety. The role is inside IR35, runs until 31 March 2027, and involves travel to Lincolnshire a couple of times per month for collaboration, project activity, and stakeholder engagement.
