Job Description
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Liebherr USA is an international company that develops and manufactures mining equipment and technologies, including autonomous large mining haul trucks.
The Technical Lead will direct perception and onboard planning system development, integrate technology with hardware and software, and manage large-scale engineering projects, teams, schedules, and technical deliverables.
Responsibilities Directs, manages, and participates in the development of perception and planning systems/algorithms as they relate to autonomous large mining haul trucksResearches solutions to onboard systems to support autonomous large mining haul trucksDevelops project plans and associated project documentsEvaluates system architecture(s) and supporting electrical, electro-mechanical, and hydraulic componentsWrites specifications for hardware and software development including algorithm definitionParticipates in the creation of development contractsManages large capital (>$500k) development projectsDelegates tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnelIdentify and resolve issues and conflicts with the project team and/or planIdentify and manage project dependencies and critical pathEstimates time and cost requirementsPlan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate toolsTrack project milestones and deliverablesWorks independently and as a team member with other engineers, designers, and production personnel or on ad hoc projectsResearches and analyzes customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other dataConfers with Engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical informationParticipates in Engineering Development Program Skills A Master Science Degree or Master of Engineering Degree (M.S./ M.E.) with 6 to 8 years of relevant mechanical experience in an engineering environment or, a Bachelor's degree (BSEE, BSCE,BSME, or BSMechatronic Engineering) with 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in an engineering environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experienceKnowledge of autonomous system technology principles including perception, pose, and self-localization/mappingKnowledge of real-time embedded systemsKnowledge of open source development tools (e.g.
ROS)Knowledge of software programming tools (ex. Linux, CoDeSys, C++, etc.)Knowledge of communication protocols (ex.
RS232, CanOpen, J1939, etc.)Knowledge of wireless telemetry as applied in the surface mining environmentKnowledge of hardware and computing platformsKnowledge of system modeling techniques and software (ex. Matlab,Simulink)Knowledge of Project Management tools (ex.
