Job Description
Salary: £71,000 - 99,000 per year
Requirements
- We have 10+ years of software experience, with significant time still spent hands-on in code and a track record of shipping product-impacting work end to end.
- We have real depth in the mobile app ecosystem, ideally iOS and/or Android, with strong fluency in Swift and/or Kotlin and the surrounding ecosystem, including offline sync, push, auth, persistence, networking, and REST/GraphQL.
- We have demonstrated breadth across at least one of web frontend, backend services, data/infra, or platform tooling alongside mobile.
- We have strong product judgment and can make, defend, and explain decisions about what not to build based on evidence.
- We are comfortable troubleshooting in production across stacks, including crash analysis, latency tracing, and release-health debugging.
- We have excellent cross-functional collaboration skills and help the people around us perform better.
Responsibilities
- We identify, scope, and ship changes that move business metrics across mobile, web, services, and data layers.
- We architect long-lasting systems that perform reliably at scale, including performance, reliability, scalability, offline behavior, and consistency.
- We lead technical design reviews across teams and weigh trade-offs across code, product impact, time-to-ship, and operational cost.
- We drive operational maturity in areas such as release management, observability, incident response, and performance monitoring, including for mobile apps.
- We partner with product managers, designers, and engineering leaders to shape what we build, why we build it, and in what order.
- We set the technical bar by building prototypes, proving patterns, and teaching them to others.
- We communicate trade-offs clearly to engineers, product partners, and senior stakeholders.
