BI Engineer

Salary: £130,000 - 137,800 per year

Requirements

• Strong foundation in AWS data engineering and BI
• Advanced SQL skills
• Python experience for data processing and pipeline development
• Exposure to infrastructure and tooling such as Terraform, APIs, and CI/CD
• Experience working in Business Intelligence or analytics environments
• Experience with cloud-based AI services such as AWS Bedrock or similar
• Familiarity with AI-enabled data products or workflows
• Understanding of generative AI and prompt engineering concepts
• Exposure to ML pipelines or collaboration with Data Science teams
• Typically 4-8 years of experience in data engineering or BI roles
• Proven experience delivering AWS-based data solutions
• Background in data warehousing, analytics, or data platform development
• Experience working in complex or regulated environments is beneficial

Responsibilities

• Support the development of a modern data platform
• Design, build and optimise data pipelines and data platform components within AWS
• Support and enhance Business Intelligence reporting and analytics capabilities
• Contribute to the development of a data lake and modern data architecture
• Work across both BAU support and new capability development
• Collaborate with wider teams on AI-related initiatives and roadmap delivery
• Apply best practices around data quality, governance and performance optimisation

We are seeking a BI Engineer for our government client, based in London or Swindon. This is an initial 3-month contract working inside IR35 on an umbrella basis, with office attendance required one day per month and the remainder remote. We are supporting emerging AI-driven initiatives and a modern data platform, offering the opportunity to contribute to AWS data engineering, BI, data lake development, and AI-related roadmap delivery.
