Contract Senior RPG Engineer

Salary: £39,000 - 70,500 per year

Requirements

• We need strong RPG development experience, including RPG/400, ILE, and free format.
• We need a solid understanding of the IBM i platform and the application lifecycle.
• We need experience developing and maintaining 5250-based business applications.
• We need the ability to design and build integrations using REST APIs.
• We need experience working with JSON and XML data formats.
• We need good SQL knowledge, including embedded SQL within RPG.
• We need experience with DDL and modern database design approaches.
• We need exposure to web development concepts, including HTML integration.
• We need experience with IBM i modernisation approaches or hybrid architectures.
• We need familiarity with GUI enablement or terminal modernisation tools such as Newlook.
• We need experience with document or spool file transformation tools such as Interform.
• We need experience with Freestyle or similar tools for web enablement of RPG.
• We need use of modern IBM i development tools such as RDi rather than SEU.
• We need candidates to be UK based.

Responsibilities

• We will hire a Contract Senior RPG Engineer for an initial 6-month assignment.
• We will expect the engineer to develop and maintain IBM i business applications.
• We will expect the engineer to build and support integrations using REST APIs.
• We will expect the engineer to work with JSON and XML data.
• We will expect the engineer to contribute to modernisation efforts across IBM i applications.
• We will expect the engineer to use modern IBM i development tools and practices.
• We will require the engineer to work fully remotely from within the UK.
