GIS Platform Lead

Salary: £39,862 - 42,839 per year

Requirements

• Strong expertise in Geographical Information Systems
• Essential experience with Esri ArcGIS
• Experience planning and delivering ArcGIS Enterprise upgrades, including managing dependencies, minimising downtime, and ensuring component compatibility
• Experience using monitoring tools such as ArcGIS Monitor, or similar, to identify and resolve performance or reliability issues
• Strong communication skills
• A proactive approach and the ability to manage competing priorities
• Experience working with systems and people in a largely remote environment
• Knowledge of additional geospatial or data tools would be an advantage
• Experience with Python and the ArcPy module for GIS automation would be an advantage

Responsibilities

• Lead the support, maintenance, and development of our corporate GIS platform (ArcGIS)
• Work with colleagues across IT & Digital and other teams to improve the use of GIS across the organisation
• Manage geospatial data across the Council, ensuring it is accurate, up to date, and well governed
• Deliver mapping products and spatial analysis to support services and decision-making
• Provide high-quality support, guidance, and training to GIS users across the organisation
• Define and promote GIS standards, best practices, and ways of working
• Facilitate collaboration through GIS user groups and forums
• Identify and deliver innovative GIS solutions to meet business needs
• Develop and maintain automation processes using Python and ArcPy
• Create and maintain documentation essential to the success of GIS
• Maintain a stable and secure ArcGIS Enterprise environment through patching and upgrades
