Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Automation Engineer to join their cutting-edge remote-first manufacturing and production team.
This role is critical in developing and implementing advanced automated systems that enhance efficiency, quality, and safety across our diverse production lines.
As a remote employee, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, and operations, to identify opportunities for automation and drive projects from conception to completion.
Responsibilities: Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for manufacturing processes using PLC, SCADA, HMI, and robotics technologies. Troubleshoot and debug existing automation systems to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define automation requirements and develop project specifications. Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed automation projects.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, programming code, and operational manuals. Stay current with industry trends and advancements in automation technologies, recommending new solutions and best practices.
Provide technical support and training to operations personnel on automation systems. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and industry standards in automation design and implementation.
Participate in the commissioning and validation of new automation equipment and systems. Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within the manufacturing and production environment.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial automation engineering, with a strong focus on manufacturing environments.
Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), SCADA systems, and HMI development. Experience with robotic programming (e.g., FANUC, KUKA) and vision systems is highly desirable. Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems related to automation.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Proven ability to manage projects effectively, from initiation to closure. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote team setting.
Experience with CAD software for electrical schematics is a plus. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies is advantageous. This is a full-time, fully remote position.
