Salary: £91,000 - 104,000 per year

Requirements

• We require extensive knowledge of server infrastructure environments.
• We require strong experience with VMware vSphere and VMware virtualisation infrastructure.
• We require experience with Storage Area Networks (SAN), server backup and restore technologies, and domain controllers.
• We require excellent understanding of Microsoft Active Directory administration, management, maintenance, and services integration.
• We require experience administering Windows Server 2016 and Windows Server 2022.
• We require basic LAN, TCP/IP, and networking troubleshooting skills.
• We require experience with infrastructure security and monitoring tools, including Zscaler and SolarWinds.
• We require experience supporting HSCN connectivity and NHS infrastructure environments.
• We require experience of remote administration and support.
• We require ITIL awareness or formal ITIL training.
• We require strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
• We require excellent communication skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• We require candidates to be currently based in Essex.
• We require a full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
• We require the ability to travel regularly between sites across Essex.
• We would prefer previous public sector experience.
• We would prefer experience supporting critical infrastructure in highly regulated environments.
• We would prefer knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Azure infrastructure services.

Responsibilities

• We support, maintain, and administer enterprise server infrastructure environments.
• We manage and optimise VMware vSphere virtualisation platforms.
• We administer Windows Server 2016 and 2022 environments.
• We maintain and support Microsoft Active Directory services, including integration and troubleshooting.
• We manage SAN technologies and associated infrastructure.
• We support server backup and restore technologies to ensure business continuity and disaster recovery compliance.
• We provide remote administration and support across multiple NHS locations.
• We monitor, manage, and troubleshoot infrastructure performance and security using enterprise tools.
• We support connectivity across HSCN environments.
• We work within ITIL-aligned processes, including incident, problem, and change management.
• We assist with infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and service improvement projects.

We are supporting a leading organisation in Essex seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join our IT Services team on a contract basis. This is a hands-on technical role focused on maintaining critical infrastructure services across multiple sites, with responsibility for high availability, security, and performance of core systems. The contract is outside IR35, offers a day rate of £350 to £400, and starts ASAP on an initial 6-month term with potential extension. The role is based in Essex, and we require candidates to live locally, hold a full UK driving licence, have access to a vehicle, and be willing to travel regularly between sites.
