Systems Engineer

Salary: £45,000 - 50,000 per year

Requirements

• We need strong ability to diagnose complex faults, document issues, communicate clearly, and follow up on corrective actions.
• We need good knowledge of TCP/IP networking concepts, including routing, switching, firewalling, and Layer 7 firewalls.
• We need experience with Linux environments, including CentOS/Ubuntu, Apache, and MySQL.
• We need experience with Asterisk/VoIP platforms.
• We need intermediate-level experience with Windows Server and VMware.
• We need hardware and/or software systems development and design experience.
• We need programming and scripting knowledge, including Bash and Perl.
• We need working knowledge of satellite networks and infrastructure, firewalls, and traffic shaping.
• We need the ability to act as an in-house product expert on selected systems and applications.
• We need the ability to keep up to date with new developments in the IT and communications industry relevant to our markets.
• We need the ability to produce and maintain detailed technical documentation.
• We need experience working with product management teams to roll out new developments effectively across the organization.
• We need the ability to obtain or hold SC Clearance.
• We need a permanent commitment to the role.

Responsibilities

• We diagnose complex faults, document issues, communicate findings, and follow up on corrective actions.
• We act as an in-house product expert on selected systems and applications.
• We keep abreast of new developments in the IT and communications industry relevant to our markets.
• We produce and maintain detailed technical documentation for new solutions and developments.
• We work with the Product Management team to ensure new developments are rolled out effectively across our organization.
• We work with external customers to design onboard vessel and land networks for fleets and remote sites.
• We design bespoke solutions covering virtualisation, high availability, traffic prioritisation, integration into existing infrastructure, and ongoing support.
• We identify off-the-shelf products and develop in-house products for design and integration to best suit our business and client needs.
